Gongura leaves pappu with peanuts/ Amshe bhajji dhali
Hello dear readers! Today I will share one more favourite recipe of mine. It is gongura leaves pappu/ dal. This is one easy peasy recipe and a very healthy one. We don’t get these leaves easily everywhere here but whenever we get access we buy it and prepare this dish. These leaves are used frequently in Andhra cuisine. We make this dal with raw peanuts. Gongura leaves is also called sorrel leaves. In hindi it is called “khatta Bhaji” . You may skip adding onion and garlic too.
Ingredients:
Gongura leaves – 2 bunches
Tur dal – 1 cup
Raw groundnuts – handful
Onion – 1
Garlic – 3-4 crushed
Turmeric powder – 2 pinches
Green chillies – 2
Salt – to taste
For seasoning:
Oil – 1tsp
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Red chillies – 3
Method:
- Wash the dal well .
- Wash and chop the gongura leaves.
- Take a pressure cooker add washed leaves , dal, chopped onion,garlic,green chillies,haldi powder and water as much as needed.
- Take 2 -3 whistles.
- Once the pressure is released , open the lid, add salt to taste and take a boil.
- Then season it with the above ingredients.
- Heat oil, splutter mustard seeds and red chillies.
- Season it to the dal and close the lid immediately for few seconds.
- Serve it hot.
