Sapath
The Sheera offered to God is called ‘Sapath’. The recipe differs slightly, using a generous amount of ghee, milk, and banana pieces.
Today is Varamahalakshmi puja, and one of my aunt mentioned that offering Sapath/Sheera as prasadam is divine. That inspired me to make some, and here’s my version of Sapatha!
The aroma of Sapath filled the entire house, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Ingredients:
- Bombay suji: 1 cup
- Sugar: 1 cup
- Ghee: 1 cup
- Milk: 3 cups
- Kesar (saffron): a few strands soaked in milk
- Cardamom powder: 2 pinches
- Dry fruits: for garnish
Method:
- Heat ghee in a thick kadai and roast rawa for a few minutes.
- Gradually add hot milk, stirring continuously.
- Add sugar and cook on low flame.
- Add kesar soaked in a tsp of milk, cover the lid for a few seconds.
- Add cardamom powder.
- Garnish with ghee-roasted dry fruits.
P.s Adjust ghee and sugar as per your needs. I removed some ghee later.
I added 2cups of milk and 1 cup of water by mixing it together .
