Oats Kichdi


A special recipe just for my daughter! 🎥❤️ Oats khichdi is her absolute favorite, and I’m so glad I get to share this easy recipe with you all. Feel free to customize with your favorite veggies and spices – it’s a versatile dish that’s perfect for any time! 🥘🌟


Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup split moong dal
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 2-3 cloves
  • 1 small piece cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 pinch hing
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 finely chopped carrot
  • 3-4 finely chopped beans
  • Green chilly 1 chopped
  • Cashewnuts 7 to 8 pieces
  • Salt to taste
  • 3-4 cups water
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Tadka:

  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp kasuri methi
  • 2 red chilies (missed in the original preparation
  • Method:
  1. Dry roast oats and set aside.
  2. Soak split moong dal for 30 minutes.
  3. Heat ghee, add cumin seeds and whole garam masala.
  4. Sauté chopped onion and veggies (carrot, beans) one by one.
  5. Add roasted oats, cashewnuts, soaked moong dal, water, and salt. Pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.
  6. Prepare tadka with mentioned ingredients and add to khichdi.
  7. Serve hot with a drizzle of ghee.
