Godu Appo/ Sweet Paniyaram/Uniyappam

Wishing everyone a Belated Happy Onam! 🎉 Sharing a quick and delicious instant sweet appo recipe, a Konkani twist on the traditional version. While authentic recipes involve grinding rice and other ingredients, this version yields soft and tasty appos. Give it a try!

Ingredients:-

2 cups wheat flour

– 3/4 cup chiroti/Bombay rawa

– 1/2 cup grated coconut

– 1/2 cup thick poha

– 2 pinches cardamom powder

– 300g jaggery

– 1/2 cup water for jaggery syrup

– 2 pinches salt

– 1/2 cup chopped banana pieces

Method:1. Prepare jaggery syrup and strain.

2. Grind coconut and soaked poha to a fine paste.

3. Mix all ingredients with wheat flour, adding water for thick pouring consistency. Rest for 20-30 minutes.

4. Heat appe pan, add ghee, pour batter, and make Appo.Optional: Add roasted coconut bits and black sesame seeds for extra flavor!

Tips

Heat the pan on high and smear ghee well in all the cavities.

Add batter, close with a lid and lower the flame and wait until the top part cooks completely.

It will take about 5 to 6 minutes.

Then flip over carefully.

Patience is the key for perfect Appos!
